Go to sleep
Each year the Festival acadien de Clare welcomes Louisiana Cajun musicians and friends for an evening of celebration Fais dodo style under an enormous tent. Previous Louisiana artists that have starred in our Fais do do were Steve Riley et les Mamou Playboys, Bruce Daigrepont, Al Berard, Bonsoir Catin, Waylon Thibodeaux, Feufollet and members of the group The Pine Leaf Boys.
The Fais dodo has become an excellent way for Acadians from all over and the increasing number of Cajun visitors to join together in celebration in our region of Baie Sainte-Marie. It is the Cajun music, dance and food that make this Fais dodo evening a night of joy and good times that move at full speed with the rhythm of the two-step and the waltz.
This summer, the Fais dodo welcomes from Louisiana, The Pine Leaf Boys, Chris Miller and the Bayou Roots and Richard Leboeuf. Mr. Leboeuf is also a chef, which will give you the occasion to taste meals typical of Louisiana. We will also present the group Cadien made up of exceptional musicians of our region.
Do not miss the occasion to visit where the Baie Sainte-Marie and Louisiana reunite. You’ll also see other local musicians as well as get the chance to meet and become friends with Louisiana natives that we guarantee that within just a few minutes you’ll become just like cousins. Come discover the bond crafted in the roots of music and the joy of life shared by the Acadians of the North and the Cajuns of the South. Come participate in the Fais dodo en Acadie this summer and let yourself be taken away by this amazing not to be missed concert.
Why the name Fais do do?
While having house parties, Cajuns would say to their children “fais do do”, meaning “go to sleep”. The name caught on and these parties became known as a Fais do do!
When did Fais do do parties originate?
