Welcome to Little Brook
This village gets its name obviously from a natural element found in the area.
As you travel through Little Brook you go over a small bridge that crosses none other but, you guessed it, Little Brook. This village is not a “pass-through” town, it is a gateway to many other attractions and beautiful sites.
From one small connector road, on which is now located a wind-mill used as an alternative energy generator, you get to many other places including Concessions where you can visit an old fashioned general store that has a bit of everything including fabric enough to stitch a quilter’s dream, Church Point where you can experience the grandeur of North America’s largest wooden church, Saulnierville Station where the wooded scenery will transport you to a garden of eden, Corberrie home of the smallest and one of the oldest churches in Clare, and St-Joseph named after the patron saint also the first inhabitant of the village just to name a few.
This second “main highway” of sorts is called Second Division Road and it was developped for the most part in order to more efficiently connect in-land villages to each other.
Other roads help to create this network as well. Most of these villages grew around the train stations and there were limited travel-ways to get from one place to another.
With this in-land main street, the municipality would grow even more than had been imagined and people today keep going further.
The residents of Clare build cottages deeper in-land on lakes and rivers that many don’t even know exist and many of those cottages have now become permanent homes. This network of branches has permitted the Acadian community to flourish and keeps influencing the future of this municipality.
Whenever, if ever, you decide to return to the #1 hwy, simply point yourself toward the shore on almost any of these streets and enjoy the trip back to the Bay. Order your free info package and see for yourself what a best kept secret looks like.
