Once a lengendary shipbuilding and lumbering village, today Belliveau Cove offers picturesque municipal park named after Joseph and Marie Dugas, the first Acadiansin Clare 1768.

The park features an operational lighthouse and wharf, restored post office (established 1856), and a visitor information centre and craft centre open July- August.

For the outdoor enthusiast, the park offers a 5km nature trail and boardwalk with interpretive panels that follow the beautiful St. Mary`s Bay shoreline and freshwater wetlands.

While on this trail, stop to visit the first Acadian cemetery and the Little Chapel. The historical importance is depicted on the monument found beside the chapel.

Walk the wharves, visit the lighthouse, enjoy a snack ont he nerby picnic tables, or take a stroll on the beach at low tide. The tidal range on this site is an amazing 28 feet and when the tide is out its a very popular clamming location. Local artisan shops and restaurants can be found within walking distance from the park.

The annual Joseph et Marie Dugas Festival takes place at the park in the summer months to honour the arrival of the Acadian couple to the area in 1768. Music fills the air as locals and visitors alike enjoy food, local crafts, games, workshops, and more!
